Feelings of shame, isolation and guilt are often experienced by couples who are struggling with infertility. It is important for us as a community and a society as a whole to raise awareness and challenge the stigma associated with infertility as we may have friends and family members who are struggling.
The more opportunities that we have to discuss the infertility struggle in an honest and open way, the more likely it is for others to find the courage to share their story. By giving infertility a voice, we can slowly begin to normalise the experience.
Often it can be the hardest time to share your experience when you are in the midst of your struggle yet often that is the time you may need the support the most. It is our goal to create a compilation of a variety of personal stories and experiences from men and women in our community. By encouraging people to share their stories, those that are struggling can find comfort and support knowing they are not alone in their journey and those that are sharing their story can help give a ‘voice’ to the infertility struggle.
If you would like to share your story please contact us.
We would also like to offer you the opportunity to host a ‘Fertility Awareness Evening’ with a group of friends in an intimate setting in your home One of the AJFN team members can come along and share a few stories and as a group you will have the opportunity to hear about the infertility journey and discuss various ways you can make a change in becoming more sensitive and aware of those couples in our community who may be suffering in silence. Please contact us for more information.
